PROCESS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Here are the three main issues and solutions we found based on user testing
Moderated User Testing
In order to observe any potential obstacles that users may encounter while browsing the web, we chose moderate user testing as our primary research method. In total, we conducted 10 moderate user tests, both remotely through Zoom and in person. We recruited participants by sending emails to the Pratt Google Group and contacting library students and library copy marketing professionals.
In the test, we presented participants with two tasks about Explore Page and Add Listing, and carefully observed how they navigated the website to complete each task. We also asked participants to share their thoughts aloud as they completed each task, asking questions such as “What do you see?” “, “What was your impression? “And” What do you expect to happen when you click on it?” And other questions to gain a deeper understanding of their experience.
Problem-1 Too much information without a well-structured exploration page
After our moderate user testing, we found that users had a lot of pain points for the current homepage, so we summarized and designed a new prototype
Based on our research and summary, we designed the new Explore Page
All users tested preferred the new design
Problem-2 Add Listing’ concept unclear and expressed no interest in engaging with the feature
Problem-3 ‘The site looks outdated and I wouldn’t trust it for information…‘
We wanted to see if our new design could be seen as a revenue-generating design from a professional point of view, so we recruited three marketing professionals from art galleries or museum institutions to test our new design
